Psycho Educational Diagnostics and Learning Support
We offer psycho educational diagnostics in English for children and teens, who struggle with reading, writing, spelling, math, maintaining their attention or sitting still.
Diagnostics
Dr. Rebecca Silva von Heesen conducts all diagnostic testing. Dr. Rebecca has years of experience studying learning disabilities and working with learning disabled students. She is currently completing her PhD in educational psychology at the Goethe University in Frankfurt. Additionally, Dr. Rebecca has an Erste Staatsexamen (MA equivalent) in education for language arts in German and English, an MA specializing in reading research and a Heilpraktiker für Psychotherapie (complementary practitioner certificate for psychotherapy).
Born in Santiago, Chile, raised in St. Louis, Missouri and living in Germany since 2011, Dr. Rebecca is sensitive to the needs of bilingual and international school students. While every child and family is unique, Dr. Rebecca's experiences as a mother and a stepmother have enhanced her understanding of the joys, struggles and intricacies of family life.

Holistic Approach
Scholastic difficulties resulting from dyslexia or dyscalculia can trigger anxiety, anger, hopelessness and many other feelings. Or, the presence of such feelings can impair scholastic success. Since research shows that students with learning disabilities and ADHD frequently carry an additional emotional burden, PEDALS adopts a multi-faceted approach to diagnostics. This provides information to parents and educators to facilitate targeted learning support.
