Diagnostics

The diagnostic process at PEDALS most often involves building bridges between a student, school and family. A psycho-education report brings together details from different life spheres to offer a clearer picture of where strengths and weaknesses lie and how to best approach them moving forward. Generally, this involves a 1.5 hour parent meeting (or client meeting), as well as questionnaires sent to the school and other family members prior to testing. While needs vary, most testing requires two test days that range from 1.5-2 hours. Testing must be completed in the morning. Sometimes additional questionnaires must be completed. Once a detailed report (frequently longer than 20 pages) has been compiled, a final meeting that lasts between 1 and 2 hours is arranged to discuss the findings and answer initial questions. This meeting can be arranged in person or online. Parents (or adult patients) are then given a copy of the report at the final meeting and they may access a PDF thereafter. An invoice is sent out once all services have been completed.

Holistic Approach

Scholastic difficulties resulting from dyslexia or dyscalculia as well as difficulties with social interactions can trigger anxiety, anger, hopelessness and many other feelings. Or, the presence of such feelings can impair scholastic success and/ or social interactions. Since research shows that there are many reasons why people carry an additional emotional burden, PEDALS adopts a multi-faceted approach to diagnostics. This provides information to patients, parents and educators to facilitate targeted support.
